It’s that time again, and the Spring season is upon us. Now we can start to prepare our skin for this Spring time period.
For some of us, like myself, will have to deal with seasonal allergies, making our eyes, and nose itchy and runny. You know what comes with this… rubbing or blowing! This can lead to unsightly redness, and in some cases, darkness, around the eyes, or nose.
So. What I like to do is pretreat my allergies with drops, and an antihistamine (allergy medicine), and up my dosage of vit C. I start when I feel any itching and by the time the season is underway, I’m good to go.
But if you’re not taking anything or using preventive measures, or if this isn’t working, what to do about the raw skin?
What I do, and have done, is to change up my routine slightly. I still cleanse, treat, and hydrate, but now I may add something extra:
- Refrigerate some brewed teabags. If your eyes are puffy in the mornings like my eyes get, the cooled teabags with the caffeine will help calm them down and deflate the puffiness.
- If your eyes are still itchy, I have used eye wash to flush out any irritations.
- You can also get one of those handy roller balls, for puffy eyes, and pop that in the fridge for about 10min. (some eye creams come with this already attached) Once you roll that under, and in some cases over the eye, you can start to get some nice relief.
- For the dark discoloration around the eyes, and nose, it’s best to use products like an eye cream that contains, vitamin C, Retinol (nighttime only), and soothing ingredients, like aloe, and cucumber. Around the nose I start using my brightening face creams at night like Sunday Riley’s Good Genes all -in -one lactic acid treatment. Again, I would use a product that contained Retinol, if there isn’t soreness, and redness. Then you would need soothing products only.
